Diabetes Project Sanyang The Gambia

The objective of this project is to spread knowledge and skills related to the diagnosis and therapy of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 and to implement a workable treatment protocol in the Sanyang Hospital. To achieve this, a ‘letter of intent’ was set up and signed by the Sanyang Hospital Foundation and the local counterpart, the head nurse.
Additionally, to support this project an internet connection has been financed to facilitate contact between the supporting professionals in The Netherlands and the local counterpart. The goal is to have the protocol up and running within a year and to monitor the quality and results via a patient tracking system, which is provided free of charge.
